Macrae Tartan Kilt

A large number of Scottish clans are historically and traditionally associated with tartan business and each clan has a variety of tartan they are processing that's why we have more than 2000 Scottish Tartan kilts in trade. Clan Macrae is an armigerous clan that means 'son of grace' or 'son of good fortune'. The clan seat is Eilean Donan Castle on Loch Duich. The island of Eilean Donan is the historic seat of Clan Macrae, the island is located on the west coast of Scotland and it is the location where Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh all meet.
In his lanmark work , author, Ben Johnson writes that It is said that the weavers took great pain to give exact patterns of tartan by identifying each colour of every thread upon a piece of wood known as a maide dalbh, or pattern stick. An account from 1572 records how a housewife gave colored wool to a weaver to make into cloth. In suing him before the magistrate she accused him of making the cloth to his ‘awin fasoun’, or own fashion, and not according to her instructions. She won her case and the naughty weaver was punished. With the evolution of chemical dies, weavers were able to introduce more elaborate patterns including more vivid and varied colors. As clans grew and branched through birth, death or marriage, the newer clans evolved tartans of their own by adding an over stripe onto the basic pattern of the parent clan.
